The workshop takes place on the stretch of coast of the Baltic Sea, which belongs to Vesteraas. Right here you will find quite some edible things in the water – fish, shellfish and algae. You can try fishing with a fishing rod, as the area is famous for its large trouts and mullets. Here trouts can be caught only in the summer, where the Eskebæk creek is running into the sea – during the winter, the outlet of the creek is protected 500 meters on both sides of the beach. For those who are familiar with water and like to swim, there is the opportunity to fish with a harpoon. Others may try their hand at fishing for shrimp with a net, which a single person can operate without problems. Even algae are an ingredient for a meal – a tasty contribution from the seashore. If the water is cold, Neopren wetsuits and wading pants are available.
There is food to be found in the water as well as along the coast. There are beach herbs growing, that are rich in flavor and which can be used as a side dish or as a salad.
After the ingredients are fished and collected, we prepare the food and eat it together by the campfire.
